New Semester WEEEE

For this project, I want to look into trying out new softwares and applications outside of my comfort zone. So in my mind, I wanted to work with museums and how they exhibit.

My possible approach is to research different types of digital tools that can enhance the visitor experience, such as interactive displays, virtual reality, augmented reality, or audio guides.

I also want to explore how these tools can be integrated with the existing physical exhibits, and what challenges or benefits they may bring. I hope to learn more about the design and evaluation of these technologies, and how they can create engaging and meaningful experiences for museum visitors.

My next step is to create a place to consolidate my ideas and my experiences with Figjam for mindmapping and getting my ideas together is pretty good. I used this during my internship at a design agency, where I had to collaborate with other designers and clients on various projects. Figjam helped me to organize my thoughts, sketch out concepts, and share feedback with others in real time.

Visiting Museums

Museum experiences, Museums are evolving and I am lacking in experiencing these expeditions, there is a difference between looking through the images and being there to experience it

Andreas gave some good examples of place and showcases that can broaden my knowledge on this topic. I need to make sure I do not get too focused on the the software aspect but to look into the real life interaction of the visitors of the museum and the exhibits.

I can approach this topic from the perspective of artists, the possible ways to showcase the artworks in museums.I will also have to extend on my readings into each aspect of the topic and as the days go by, build pillars with these readings and case studies to make my experiments upon.

The next step is to get into some of Singapore’s museum to see how each exhibition will showcase the work.

National Gallery Singapore

The experience for the first museum was peaceful one, not much interactive experience and the environment is static with visitors just walking around taking pictures and admiring the paintings.

As for the art itself, the lighting and space is curated to fit the paintings into each section, with single large piece of artworks taking up the most space

Basement 1, I came across a sound and visual room with props of nature. The props were glowing, there were motion in the visuals and the sound was loud (Surround sound), Some exhibits has moving machine or requires human interaction and curiosity to get the ball rolling.

The best example so far is to use body gesture to look around a virtual map.
